“For many of us, our photos are the first thing we'd take in an emergency – our history and our prized possessions.”

Fostering Memories is dedicated to providing foster children, growing up in San Diego County group homes and facilities, with photographs and scrapbooks to permanently document the ages and stages of their lives. We all have the need to preserve childhood memories.  Abused and neglected children who have been removed from their families, often do not have pictures, scrapbooks or even a person who can remind them of their childhood experiences. Now these children will be able to create photographic records that reflect their experiences and memories of growing up.

Our Mission

To provide foster children growing up in San Diego County residential care, with photographs and scrapbooks to permanently document their childhood memories.

Who we are…

Fostering Memories is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit collaborative organization of professional staff, volunteer photographers, and volunteer scrapbookers who care about preserving the childhood memories of foster youth.

What we do. . .

Our photographers take pictures of children where they live.  These pictures are then printed and returned to the children directly, including copies of pictures they can share with their friends.

Our scrapbookers then visit the centers, where they give the pictures directly to the children and help them to create memory books.

Finally, our professional staff archive these pictures, preserving confidentiality, and allow children to retrieve copies – to replace any lost photos - as they enter adulthood.
